Cabinet
Office minister, Brooks Newmark has resigned from the government after
allegedly being caught sending explicit pictures of himself over the
internet to a freelance male reporter who was posing as a young

number of women in politics issued a statement saying he was quitting.
He appealed for privacy for himself and his family.
Newmark
said: “I have decided to resign as minister for civil society having
been notified of a story to be published in a Sunday newspaper,” he
said.
“I
would like to appeal for the privacy of my family to be respected at
this time. I remain a loyal supporter of this government as its long

Downing
Street said his resignation had been accepted and that Newmark had been
replaced by Rob Wilson, a former aide to the chancellor, George Osborn
