Maku mourns late Igwe

Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, has condoled with the management and staff of The Sun Publishing Limited over the death of their Deputy Chairman, Mr. Dimgba Igwe.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Joseph Mutah, the minister said he was deeply saddened over how Igwe lost his life in an accident caused by a hit-and-run driver in Lagos.
Maku said the death of Igwe was a huge loss, not only to the pen profession, but the nation at large.
He said, “Igwe was a consummate journalist, columnist, author and public commentator on national issues who acquitted himself satisfactorily as a professional by upholding the tenets of the journalism profession.”
Maku added that as the nation mourned the loss of Igwe, the deceased would remain evergreen in the memory of Nigerians as a celebrated journalist who utilised his talents in promoting the truth and mobilising the entire nation to pursue a common cause of peace, unity and development.
The minister commiserated with the family of Igwe, The Sun Publishing Limited and the entire media industry over the loss, urging them to take solace in the fact that he lived a purposeful life that impacted on the nation.
He prayed God to comfort the family of the deceased and the entire management and staff of the Sun Publishing Limited, and grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
