Commotion as bomb scare rocks Jos

There was pandemonium on Friday at Dogon Karfe area of Jos North local Government Area of Plateau State when a car allegedly laden with bomb was discovered in the area as the Muslims were preparing for their Jumat prayers.
Our correspondent gathered that the 505 Peugeot car was left on the road for a long time, apparently targeting the Muslims who were about to gather for Friday prayers.
The dust raised by the discovery caused heavy traffic jam along the Murtala Mohammed Way, Constitution Hill Road and other adjoining roads as motorists avoided Dogon Karfe axis to link British Junction and Bauchi Road.
The commotion also caused heavy traffic along the ever busy Ahmadu Bello Way and Yakubu Gowon Way.
Though the police denied that it was a bomb, eye witnesses said that men of the bomb disposal unit of the Plateau State Police command latter detonated the bomb before it could explode.
The police spokesperson, Emmanuel Abuh, told our correspondent that the attention of the command was drawn to the car and was found to contain personal effects when it was searched.
He said. “An alarm was raised by residents of Dogon Karfe area of Jos North that a particular car had been packed at a spot for a long time. We contacted men of the bomb disposal unit and when they got there, they combed the car and discovered that it contained clothing and other personal effects.
“But we are investigating the owner and why it was packed there for such a long time.”
