A 30-year-old American man, who told the police he is Jesus Christ, is accused of killing his uncle over a dispute.
According to Christian Today, Phillip Justin Markland brutally shot his relative twice on June 15 in Sebring, Florida.
First he was allegedly injured by his uncle, the older Markland, who
quickly dialed 911 and told the dispatcher he had shot his nephew in
self-d
efence. Soon another call was made, but already by Phillip, who
said he had shot his uncle and was injured himself.
Upon officers’ arrival the young man said he is Jesus Christ and
could not die. It was soon revealed that the suspect’s family members
had been afraid of him, as he was repeatedly making strange statements
regarding his divinity.
Medical expertise showed that the defendant shot the victim 25 times, however he claimed he had acted in self-defense.
Officers explained that the "the victim was killed in an execution-style manner".
The injured suspect was admitted to hospital, where he insisted that
"it was impossible for him to die because he is a Jesus Christ".
After having received the required treatment, the man was charged
with murder. The report also says that he had been using drugs, but it
was not clear if he was under the influence at the time of the crime.
